Leaders in Molecular Hydrogen education & research

MHI provides education on, advances research about, and promotes awareness of molecular hydrogen’s therapeutic potential.

Groundbreaking research on molecular hydrogen has been published in some of the most prestigious scientific journals:

Who is MHI?

Molecular Hydrogen Institute (MHI) is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, science-based nonprofit with leading hydrogen researchers on our advisory panel. MHI provides the following:

What is Molecular Hydrogen?

Although the research is early, the 2000+ scientific studies including over 100 clinical studies suggest that H2 has therapeutic potential in over 170 different human and animal disease models, and in essentially every organ of the human body.

  • Molecular hydrogen (H2) or diatomic hydrogen is a tasteless, odorless, flammable gas
  • H2 reduces oxidative stress and improves redox homeostasis partly mediated via the Nrf2 pathway, which regulates levels of glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase, etc.
  • H2, like other gaseous-signaling molecules (e.g. NO, CO, H2S), modulates signal transduction, protein phosphorylation, and gene expression, which provides anti-inflammatory, anti-allergy, and anti-apoptotic protective effects

Education and Certifications

MHI is the epicenter of hydrogen education and training and is the leading educational source for individuals. The certifications empower those interested in accurately sharing the scientific evidence regarding the potential therapeutic benefits of H2 gas. The education MHI provides also dispels many misconceptions in this emerging industry. The four MHI certifications, H2 Advisor (Level 1), H2 Consultant (Level 2), H2 Professional (Level 3), and H2 Expert (Level 4), provide essential education/knowledge to those who want to learn more about molecular hydrogen. For example, health practitioners, doctors, nutritionists, trainers, sales agents of hydrogen products, wellness coaches, etc.

If you are concerned about diving into chemistry and other technical sciences covered in the certifications, we have created a beginner course for you to gain confidence that you can successfully complete the Level 1 Certification. Although it is not part of the certification program, the H2 Apprentice is a great starting point to learn about molecular hydrogen and its potential therapeutic benefits. All content within the H2 Apprentice course is covered in more detail throughout the Level 1 Certification courses.

This education provided through the certification programs will allow you to accurately discuss the potential therapeutic benefits of molecular hydrogen – what it is and is not. In fact, part of our education is simply dispelling common misconceptions. This is done by providing enough background information in biology and chemistry using simple and easy-to-understand language.

Through the MHI Certification program, the integrity and credibility of the molecular hydrogen industry will be furthered and maintained, resulting in an increased awareness of and advancement of research in hydrogen as a medical gas.

Note: The revenue obtained via these educational courses goes directly to furthering the mission of MHI, including research and public awareness.

The Complete Guide to Molecular Hydrogen Therapy

What is Molecular Hydrogen? Molecular hydrogen is a gas. It is made of two hydrogen atoms. These atoms are bonded together with a nonpolar covalent bond, which means it is very stable. Hydrogen gas, in concentrations between about 5% and 78%, is highly explosive. However, the atmosphere contains only very small amounts of molecular hydrogen,…
