About

Molecular Hydrogen Institute (MHI) is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt, science-based nonprofit with leading hydrogen researchers on our advisory panel.

Who Is Molecular Hydrogen Institute?

Molecular Hydrogen Institute (MHI) is a non-profit scientific organization with a highly esteemed Advisory Panel consisting of professors, researchers, and other prominent academics. MHI is the foremost authority on the science of molecular hydrogen, and has four main objectives:

  • Investigate the molecular mechanisms and primary targets of molecular hydrogen and participate in clinical studies to determine its potential effects.
  • Collaborate with other universities, institutions, and research organizations.
  • Advance, promote, and publicize molecular hydrogen research and its therapeutic application.
  • Provide a comprehensive resource for governmental, medical, and scientific professionals/organizations.

Ways MHI Fulfills the Mission

Through Science

  • The MHI website contains the latest research and scientific publications on hydrogen therapy including cell, animal, and human studies.
  • MHI helps organize and disseminate this hydrogen research published in scientific journals like Nature, Science, Pharmacology, etc., and using databases, such as SciFinder, PubMed, HighWire, Web of Science, and Scopus, along with personal communication with other hydrogen researchers.

Through Collaboration

  • MHI supports and collaborates with scientists and researchers around the world who are seeking to advance the scientific understanding and use of molecular hydrogen for clinical and medical applications.
  • We welcome additional collaboration from Universities, Hospitals, medical organizations, and other accredited institutes and research groups.
  • MHI is a science-based non-profit and does not sell or endorse hydrogen products but educates on the science of molecular hydrogen, how it is produced, and how it can be effective.

Through Education

  • MHI educates the public on the emerging science of hydrogen therapy which appears to have significant therapeutic applications in many diseases and medical conditions.
  • We help to educate medical professionals by speaking at medical and health conferences, which can often be used to obtain CEUs depending on the conference.
  • MHI also participates in research seminars and hydrogen symposiums by presenting, organizing, and participating in these academic conferences.

Through Certifications

  • To help maintain the integrity of the hydrogen research and industry, MHI also offers varying levels of hydrogen education with MHI certifications upon successful completion of course work and exams.
  • MHI maintains the integrity of the industry by offering such certifications and encourages H2 Enthusiasts, medical professionals, industry leaders, sales agents/distributors of hydrogen products and hydrogen companies, industry leaders, or anyone in the general public who may be interested in becoming certified.

A Note From the Founder,

Tyler W. LeBaron, MSc, PhD.

I have always been interested in health, wellness, and optimizing physical performance. I even remember in elementary school hearing that sugar/candy was not good for your health, so I wouldn’t eat it. In late 2009, I read that molecular hydrogen had therapeutic antioxidant-like effects, which fascinated me because this molecule is everywhere. One day I was in the office visiting with one of my biochemistry professors about molecular hydrogen, who was always quite skeptical about my ideas. This day was different. He had printed out the 2007 Nature Medicine study published by Dr. Ohta (now one of our MHI advisors). He handed it to me and said, “this is really interesting, there might really be something here.”

When he told me that I just felt this desire and energy to pursue this field of research more. I collected all the scientific articles I could find regarding the therapeutic effects of molecular hydrogen. At the time, there were only 50 or so (compared to over 2000 today). I continued reading and doing some preliminary research on this area over the course of my studies.
